NOTARIAL LAW AND ATTESTATIONS
In Mexico’s civil law, the duties of a Notary Public are greatly different than those of Notaries Public in common law countries such as the United States. Civil law Notaries Public are trained attorneys given the authority to certify the veracity of documents and facts, and their participation is required by law in certain transactions, including the transfer and recording of real property, business transactions, document authentication, enforcement of last wills and testaments and other assets and estate matters. For example, Notaries Public in Mexico are governed by testamentary law. There are only about 4,000 Notaries Public in Mexico. Our Firm offers the services of a notary office founded in the mid nineteenth century by Emiliano Robles Nuñez, a distinguished attorney from the State of Jalisco, appointed by the State Government as Notary Public number 15 in and for Guadalajara after the first Notary Law went into effect. The office has been led ever since by four generations of the Robles family who have combined their law practice with their notary functions. The office has become a reliable, professional top-grade office for notary and legal services. Currently, Jorge Robles Farias, an attorney-at-law since 1969 and Notary Public number 12 in and for Guadalajara, and his son, Jorge Robles Madrigal, an attorney-at-law since 1994 and Notary Public number 73 in this city, offer notarial services as associated Notaries Public. The staff at the associated offices of Notaries Public 12 and 73 in Guadalajara include highly acclaimed attorneys and experienced personnel who provide comprehensive services to their clients at the highest professional standards.
